Robert W. Winston III - Chief Executive Officer

Robert W. Winston, III, is Chief Executive Officer and owner of Winston Hospitality, Inc. Under his guidance, Hospitality grew its portfolio to thirty-eight hotels nationwide, including over 5,500 rooms in the upscale, premium branded limited-service, select-service, extended stay and full-service segments. He is also executive chairman and co-founder of Winston Hotels, LLC, which develops and acquires hotels in the U.S.

In 1994 he co-founded and acted as chief executive officer and director of the original Winston Hotels, Inc., a real estate investment trust (REIT) publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: WXH), until the company was acquired in July 2007.  An active developer since the sale of the original Winston Hotels, Inc., Winston has overseen significant hotel developments and redevelopments, including the Lucky Eagle Casino Hotel and the Winstar Hotel, as well as numerous Hilton-, IHG- and Marriott-branded hotels in multiple segments and geographic locations.

He received a B.A. in economics and political science in 1984 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University. Winston currently is a director of the Raleigh, N.C. Research Triangle Foundation and a former chair of the Raleigh-Durham International Airport Authority Board. 
 

Michael Heeden - President

Michael B. Heeden, President of Winston Hospitality, Inc., is a 25-year hospitality industry veteran specializing in hotel operations in segments ranging from limited-service through resorts across the country. 

Previously, Heeden served as regional director of operations with Alliance Hospitality where he managed a portfolio of hotels and served as the Marriott Brand manager for the company. Prior to that, he was general manager with Interstate Hotels & Resorts, with oversight of multiple select-service and full-service hotels. Responsibilities also included golf course management as a part of Interstate’s Doral Golf division. Heeden has in-depth experience working with all the major hotel franchise companies, including Hilton, Marriott and IHG, as well as a number of independent casino hotels in the Native American gaming industry. 

A native of North Carolina, Heeden graduated with a B.S. degree in business administration from Appalachian State University.
 

Brent West - Chief Financial Officer

Brent V. West, CPA, serves as CFO for Winston Hospitality, Inc.  Under his guidance, Winston Hospitality manages a portfolio of hotels with over 2,000 rooms and annual revenues in excess of $100 million.   West also worked as vice president and chief accounting officer of the original Winston Hotels, Inc., where he helped raise more than $600 million in debt & equity financing through credit facilities, mortgage loans and follow-on public offerings.  He also was responsible for all SEC public filings. 

He also serves as chief financial officer for Winston Hotels, LLC.  In this role, he is responsible for all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding. 

West received his B.S. in accounting from Plattsburgh State University College.
 

Patti Bell - Vice-President, Human Resources

Patti Bell, a 20-year employee benefits and administration expert, serves as Vice President of human resources for Winston Hospitality, Inc.  She recently has joined the newly re-formed Winston Hotels, Inc., as Vice President of human resources.  She previously held the role of vice-president and director of investor relations, administration and human resources for the original incarnation of Winston Hotels.  She also held a number of sales and marketing positions with a variety of insurance and hospitality companies.  Bell holds licenses in the State of North Carolina for Life, Accident, Health and Sickness.  She received her B.S. in business administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College.  Bell is an active member of the Raleigh-Wake Human Resource Management Association and the Society for Human Resources Management and a past member of the National Investor Relations Institute.
